The basement of an Art-Deco building from 1908 in Berlin-Kreuzberg, which was originally used as a laundry, then as a record shop and finally as a storage space, is now reanimated to be used as a projects space and the wine shop Mezzacantina.

The foundation walls of the demolished rear building, now hidden under the backyard are excavated and turned into a small souterrain courtyard, providing daylight to the interior spaces  and access to the green backyard.

The brief  comprised also  the refurbishment of the  façade.
