The extension lengthens the axis of the existing building’s windmill-vane construction, built in 1987.

The programme comprises of office space for 64 additional staff members; a stairwell; and a staff entrance, positioned between the old and the new structure and the car park.

The client wished to retain the existing three-storey building and the punctuated facade. The scale of the punctuated façade has been adopted by the new building, yet the windows on each floor are set in opposition to each other.  The grey-pigmented  rendering on the façade is broken up by linear zones with a different grain and finish. This serves to mould the old with the new. Mica is added to the render on sections of the facade and as such, the building becomes a glimmering object when the sun shines.

The interior walls of the staff entrance and the  staircase have alternating haptic rendered surfaces. The panes of the skylight and the windows are coloured so that the stairwell is immersed in an icy blue natural light.

The building was shortlisted for Ecola-Award for the Use of Render/Plaster in Architecture 2008.

Der Neubau liegt in einem parkartigen Grundstück und verlängert eine Achse des bestehenden windmühlenflügelartigen Baus von 1987.  Das Raumprogramm  umfasst Büroflächen für 64 zusätzliche Mitarbeiter, ein Treppenhaus mit Personaleingang an der Schnittstelle zwischen Alt- und Neubau,  und ein Parkplatz  mit 30 Stellplätzen. Der Bauherr wünschte das räumliche Konzept des Altbaus  mit Mittelflur-Erschließung im Neubau beizubehalten. Außerdem sollte der Neubau als Massivbau mit  Lochfassade  ausgeführt werden.

Die  Maßstäblichkeit der Lochfassade des Altbaus wurde im Neubau aufgenommen,  die Fenster jedoch  geschossweise gegeneinander versetzt. Lineare  Putzfelder verzahnen  Neu- und Altbau optisch. Der Fassadenbelag  wurde als Relief mit grau durchgefärbtem Putz in verschiedenen Körnungen als Glattputz und  Kratzputz ausgeführt. Der Kratzputz hat eine Glimmereinstreuung, die die Fassade bei Sonneneinstrahlung  funkeln läßt.

Im Inneren des  Gebäudes  setzt sich der Wechsel  von Glatt-und Kratzputz-Wandobrflächen im Bereich von Personaleingang und Treppenhaus fort. Die VSG-Verglasung von Fenstern und Dachverglasung hat getönte  Folien und färbt den Treppenraum des Gebäudes tagsüber in eisblaues Licht.

Das Gebäude wurde 2008 für den Ecola-Preis zum Thema  "Putz in der Architektur" nominiert.
